Gdansk Christmas market dates for 2025 have now been officially confirmed. Typically, the opening day of the Gdansk Xmas market is the penultimate Friday of November and 2025 is no exception with the market opening on Friday 21st November 2025.

Unlike Krakow, the Christmas market in Gdansk runs until the 23rd December.

In Poland, the 24th December (Christmas Eve) is an extremely important day of the year and arguably THE most important day of the Christmas season for Poles as that is when they all participate in Wigilia, a traditional Christmas meal held on Christmas Eve.

It is for this reason that the Gdansk market does not run into Christmas Eve and beyond as the organisers, stall holders and majority of visitors prefer to spend time with their families.

There’s plenty of Christmas vibes to be found in and around the Xmas market in Gdansk too. Wander around the Old Town of Gdansk and you will find that everywhere is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Look out especially for the main Christmas tree by the side of the Neptune Fountain!

A city break to Gdansk may not be as popular as a weekend break to Krakow but that isn’t because Gdansk isn’t worth seeing. It is because Gdansk is still something of a hidden gem to many tourists.

Gdansk feels very much like a maritime version of Krakow with the added benefit of having two other interesting cities worth exploring only 20 minutes away (Sopot and Gdynia).
